Mauna Lani Golf Resort
The Mauna Lani Golf Resort has 29 beautiful oceanfront acres located on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Mauna Lani lies atop the 16th century Kaniku lava flow, along three miles of coastline where one can
explore spring-fed prehistoric fishponds, historic parks and preserved beaches and living reefs, dramatic
lava sculptures and ancient shelter caves and petroglyphs. On the 3,200 acres of total land property the
Mauna Lani Resort has so much to offer its guests.
While staying at the resort you can choose between the comfortable hotel guestrooms and suites or the
luxurious and spacious bungalows. Each of the 343 guestrooms and suites measure a minimum of 600 square
feet and 92% of the offer an ocean view. If the guestrooms are not for your, perhaps one of the five 4,000
square foot bungalows is. Located adjacent to the hotel, each has two master bedrooms; three baths and two
steam showers; butler service; a private swimming pool and whirlpool spa.
The Mauna Lani Resort also has on its premises two 18-hole championship golf courses. The Francis H. I‘i
Brown North and South, offer a challenging experience to novice and professional golfers alike. These courses
are recipients of eight gold medal awards from Golf Magazine and also give the Mauna Lani Resort a 25th rank
in the Top 100 Golf Resorts in America by Conde Nast.
The first of the two courses is the South Course. The South Course is built on a 16th-century lava flow,
snaking through the rugged lava terrain. The two signature holes of the Mauna Lani South Course are the
7th and 15th. The 15th is already one of the most photographed courses in the world with its over-the-water
dramatic approach. The 7th is surrounded by the blue Pacific Ocean on the left, sand dunes on the right
and mesquite trees provide the backdrop for this par 3 wonder.
The other course is the North Course. The North course is built on a much older lava bed, allowing it to
emphasize rolling fairways and mesquite tree forests. With a 230 acre archeological preserve to the North
of the North Course, you will find many local inhabitants (animals) wandering out into the course providing
for the best kind of natural hazard. The 17th hole on the North Course is the signature hole; this par-3 has
you tee off from elevated tees into the bottom of a deep lava bowl.
