Wie Keeps Streak Alive!

Michelle Wie
Michelle Wie's latest attempt to compete in a men's PGA Tour golf event has turned out like her other five attempts; not very good.

Wie is a little perplexed by her inability to score well enough to make the cut for a men's golf event and to compete for a top finishing position. She has said that she feels that she is playing well and has the golf game to compete with the male touring professionals. In assessing her game Wie concedes that her putting needs a lot of work and improvement, as do her drives, fairway woods, short and long irons, and her short game. She also admits that her golf course management skills could stand to improve as well. Other than those things she believes that her game and skills are good enough to compete with anyone and at any level.

Michelle's most recent attempt to qualify for a men's PGA Tour event came at the 2006 84 Lumber Classic contested on the Nemacolin-Mystic Rock Golf Course in Farmington, PA. Wie reportedly was invited to play in the event on a sponsor's exemption because she is close to the wife of the 84 Lumber CEO. The 84 Lumber Classic is not one of the men's tour glamour golf events (only an hour of the final round is televised and on the Comedy Network) and the field is one of the season's weakest since all of the truly good golfers are competing in England at the World Match Play Golf Championship. Last week Wie finished last against the men in the European Masters golf event.

Wie offered a few reasons for her poor performance at the 84 Lumber Classic at a press conference that she participated in following the completion of her first round of play. Among the reasons cited as contributing factors for her sub par performance were jet lag, a growth spurt with her breasts, and bad spinach.

At the same press conference Wie claimed that she routinely beats the world's best male professional golfers on her Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 Sony Playstation game.

Despite her failures to make the cut at a men's tour event and amid growing criticism of her efforts to continue competing against men Wie is not backing off of her goal to find a permanent spot on the men's PGA Tour. In fact, Wie continues to add goals to the list that she hopes to accomplish within the next few years. Her lofty goals include:
  • make the cut at a men's PGA Tour event
  • earn a permanent exempt spot on the men's PGA Tour
  • win the money title and "Player of the Year" award on the men's PGA Tour
  • be the playing captain for the 2008 men's US Ryder Cup team
  • win the men's pro tour major tournament "grandslam" in the same calendar year
  • become the official spokesperson for Cialis (erections lasting four hours or more are not a problem for her)
  • play all 4 slots at the same time in the men's "Skins Game" television event
  • earn a linebacker position on the Green Bay Packers NFL football team
  • win the professional bass fishing championship before the end of the decade
Wie's plans for the next golf year include competing in events on the LPGA and men's PGA Tour. She is also looking at another men's golf tour to play on a regular basis. Michelle did actually make the cut at a men's golf event this year in Korea - but the world's golfing sanctioning bodies and press are scornful of any golf event linked to Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il as he is a notorious bad guy and golf cheat.
